Advice from Current Foster Families: The Fostering/Adoption Process (Part Two)

"The process itself is really easy. It gets complicated when trying to gather all the necessary paperwork and getting schedules in sync for the interview/home inspection. Anna’s House has been amazing in helping to get the paperwork completed and any additional care the child may need, and honestly just being an encourager. They’ve done all the work so I can concentrate on the child and my family. Training was easy to attend (it was a full two days), which was easier on my schedule than spreading it out over weeks. I’ve been able to attend one support meeting, and will continue to go. Anna’s House makes it easy to attend, and it was great to sit with like-minded people and be reminded that we are not alone in our journey.

My advice to anyone beginning the fostering/adoption process: Ask all of your questions. There is no dumb or silly question. And yes, you will become attached and will mourn when they leave, but you will rejoice with the families that needed help and be in awe of all the hard work they did to accomplish the intended outcome."
