Answering the Call

Last Friday, I had the opportunity to sit on a conference call where leaders of private foster agencies, like Anna’s House Foundation, and leaders within OKDHS discussed the current placement crisis in our state. During the first few minutes, OKDHS began sharing heartbreaking news. On a daily average, four to five children are sleeping on couches in OKDHS offices because they do not have enough foster homes to provide children a safe bed.

In the field of foster care, a top reason people cite for not moving forward with fostering is fear. As Christ followers we are fortunate, we know that God does not give us the spirit of fear rather he calls us to serve.

If you have been thoughtfully considering and praying about becoming a foster parent, the time is now. Please consider opening your home to foster children. Getting started is simple. Email Anna's House Foster Parent Recruiter and Trainer, Jennifer Holbert at or reach out to our offices directly 405-509-2055. After that, we have trained staff dedicated to walking your foster journey alongside you.

We know the fostering journey can be difficult but that’s okay because I have encouraging testimony for you. Every single hardship I've ever had where I lean into God, he has been made the situation beautiful. I walk the fostering journey every day with many families, I know His truths of grace, love, favor, and goodness live in the fostering journey. If you feel a sense of urgency in my tone, it is because I know we are working on two very short timelines. 1. The difference between a child sleeping on a couch rather than in a bed is you, 2. Once foster children age out of the foster system, our ability to speak Christ into their hearts and show them the love of Jesus is diminished.
