Anna's House and our AHF families benefit in many ways through volunteers. Not all are called to be a foster parent, but we are all called to do something. Volunteers of various ages and backgrounds may join us through weekly, monthly, or one-time opportunities, and groups may partner with us through projects and events. Youth volunteers (under age 18) can assist our agency with donation drives benefiting the kids in care, prepare for special events and holiday parties, act as a Playroom Helper during foster parent training, and more.
We are so excited our volunteer force is comprised of a variety of ages and from unique backgrounds. Whatever your skills or talents might be, we'd love to visit with you about how you can change a child's life forever as an Anna's House Foundation volunteer. We're committed to training and supporting each volunteer. Those who work unsupervised with foster children are asked to participate in a screening process.
There are many opportunities to help by volunteering in one of the following positions:
Our resource room provides an opportunity for families to "shop" for free for the foster children in their homes; it contains daily items needed for children. Volunteers sort and organize donations in a systematic way that allows families to obtain clean safe appropriate items needed for the children in their home.
Volunteers can help prepare meals for families at training or support groups and families who receive a new placement, especially when families receive a sibling group.
If your time is limited, but you'd like to influence families in your community, we have opportunities throughout the year for you! From a summer party for foster families to a holiday gift drive for all the families our agency serves, volunteers may help us plan and host events that bring smiles to the faces kids, parents, and guardians.
If you have a truck or van and an occasional hour weekdays—during the day or early evening—we invite you to join our call list of Donation Drivers. We reach out to these volunteers when a donation comes in from the community. The Driver would help load the donation, then transport the item to the appropriate location. It would be a plus if this volunteer could help lift heavy items or assemble items when necessary!
Community members with a knack for organizing or helping in an office setting are routinely needed. Volunteers file paperwork, prepare mailings, and organize storage areas, allowing our staff to spend more time out of the office serving families! Administrative opportunities range in frequency—from once a month to simply once a year. However, they are always conducted during office hours—9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Allowing parents to meet and support one another in prayer and emotional support. The volunteer will provide age appropriate care; activities may include rocking a baby or helping a toddler color. meetings last approximately 2 hours and the volunteer commits to approximately 3 hours per meeting.
Volunteers are invited to serve in the daily activities that include: reading to children, rocking infants, assisting parents with meals, laundry, household chores (moping, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming) providing one-on-one attention to the children or helping meet the daily needs that arise in every family but can be more challenging when serving children who have suffered trauma.
This is an opportunity to promote the AHF program in the community, civic groups and local churches to recruit volunteers and foster families. You may not be comfortable doing an actual presentation but you could help organize opportunities for others to speak by personal, religious and professional community relationships.
Volunteer groups can make a big difference in Anna's House Foundation Community through landscaping and other activities. We love for volunteers to tend to the flowerbeds and help maintain the current property but also to help prepare for future yards, playgrounds and property as a whole. Planting flowers or bulbs brings such joy to the community and a sense of home to our community and families.
Opportunities will also be available for maintenance and upkeep of property.
Opportunities are available anytime! Weekend opportunities are available. This volunteer opportunity is open to volunteers of all ages!
If you're a professional photographer, or an amateur with basic skills and equipment, consider joining us to capture the milestones of children in foster care through portrait photography! We serve many foster children who are celebrating graduations, birthdays and other events typically documented through photos. You would accompany a staff member to meet and photograph a child and/or group of siblings in a memorable location on a weekday—during the day or early evening. The staff member would then receive digital copies of your photos to share with the child. We believe your time will help a foster child feel noticed and celebrated!
There are also opportunities to attend AHF events and capture those moments in photographs. Many times our children don't have pictures or those forever memories to use to tell their story. Photos help emphasize to a child that they matter are worth saving their special and daily events.
We would like each of children we serve through foster care to have a photo album, scrapbook, or life-book to celebrate their memories, lives, and communities. A donation drive for these materials would spark a great deal of joy in children and youth living away from their biological parents. There is an opportunity for scrapbook groups to come together and help preserve memories in a book for these children, help us organize an opportunity to show foster children how special they are by creating a life book.
We would love professional or amateur video production volunteers to help tell Anna's House Foundation story through short stories to use in social media or other avenues.
Many people have chosen to make a difference through special projects. Some volunteers have sewn cloth dolls for our "welcome baskets" for our children as they arrive. If you have a sewing group or scrapbook group that could offer your services to make a difference for a child, please contact us.
You can impact the lives of the children and families we serve at AHF through organizing a supply drive! See what is on our "Wish Lists" and start today! If you have a social, civic or church group that wants to make a difference, including school groups, girl and boy scouts. This is a great opportunity to get companies and schools together and build a sense of community.
If you would like to host a special event for Anna's House Foundation, (Baby Shower, Book Drive, and Welcome Baskets Shower), please contact us, we are also eager to hear about new events that you can share with Anna's House Foundation in order to make a child's life more fulfilling.
We strive to provide the following events to Anna's House Foundation Children and families, there may be an opportunity for you to volunteer at one of the following annual events: Christmas, Easter, and Birthday. Opportunities vary according to event; please contact us to see how you can support or agency in one of these events.

We may provide students from accredited universities or colleges with formal internship or field placement programs in relevant fields of study with an opportunity to apply their theoretical learning within a practical setting. Resumes are accepted throughout the year.
Decisions to provide field instruction are dependent on the requirements of the school and the availability of staff in the area of interest to provide the instruction. AHF aims to provide the best learning environment possible in order to increase the knowledge and competence of those in the social service field. Send resumes with cover letters (including area of interest and intern dates/time availability) to: email@example.com
