Anna’s House Foundation Chosen as 2026 HEROES Week Recipient

Last week, during what seemed like a typical staff meeting, our team at Anna’s House Foundation was surprised in the most unforgettable way. Students from Oklahoma Christian School’s Student Council walked in with big smiles and even bigger news—we had been chosen as the 2026 HEROES Week recipient.

Tears, hugs, and stunned silence filled the room. This wasn’t just another partnership announcement. It was a moment that reminded us that God sees every need, hears every prayer, and delights in orchestrating unexpected blessings.

HEROES Week is a cherished tradition at Oklahoma Christian School. It’s a time when students from every grade—elementary through high school—come together to raise funds and awareness for one chosen organization. But it’s more than that. It’s about living out the gospel with open hands and willing hearts. “H.E.R.O.E.S. Week was founded in 2003 with the goal of meeting the needs of both physically and spiritually of local or overseas nonprofit organizations. H.E.R.O.E.S. stands for hands extended reflecting our exalted savior.” The fundraising week will be the first week of March 2026, but Anna’s House Foundation is excited to partner with OCS throughout the year with volunteer opportunities and advocacy activities with the students.

The funds raised through HEROES Week will support our Building Meaningful Memories campaign—a campaign that’s not about numbers or outcomes, but about hearts, homes, and healing.

Many of the children who come to Anna’s House have walked through trauma. But when they arrive in our Foster Family Community, we work to provide something radically different: safety, stability, and the chance to just be a kid.

That’s what this campaign is all about.

Last year, we learned that 90% of children in our Foster Family Community were reading one to two grade levels behind. That discovery broke our hearts—and ignited our resolve.

Out of that moment, the First Focus reading program was born. Meeting two to three times a week, children receive support through a unique blend of digital lessons and a caring human coach. It’s not just about catching up. It’s about showing them they’re seen, capable, and worthy of attention.

Foster families are as diverse as the children they welcome—and so are their needs. That’s why our Care Specialists walk hand-in-hand with every family. Sometimes that means helping a child join the school band by providing a trombone. Sometimes it means covering the cost of cheerleading gear or providing in-home childcare for a child with high medical needs.

No matter the circumstance, our goal is the same: to make life safe, typical, and full of joy.

For over a decade, the children in our community have run, played, laughed, and grown on our playground and splash pad. These places have been backdrops for birthday parties, first friendships, and countless moments of delight.

But after years of love and wear, it’s time for a refresh. Through HEROES Week, we hope to renovate these spaces so that they continue to serve as havens of fun and connection.

Being chosen as the HEROES Week recipient isn’t just an honor—it’s a holy appointment. It’s a chance to invite students into the work God is doing at Anna’s House. It’s an opportunity to build memories that heal. And most of all, it’s a reminder that when we open our hands, God fills them in ways we never could’ve imagined.
