Phillipians 4:13
Elsie was prompted to foster children because she realized the need for it when she was in training for respite care. She discovered that there are children in Oklahoma who need a consistent and stable home, something she could provide. Elsie explained that the Lord has shown up in her fostering journey in many ways, and that He has helped her in showing patience towards children. He has been in the midst of her whole experience through fostering with Anna’s House.
Anna’s House has helped Elsie as a foster parent in many ways including the resource room, which she didn’t even know was a possibility at first. Her biggest joy in fostering has been seeing the growth of each child, and how they learn to spread love throughout their journey up until they leave her home. The hardest thing about fostering has been getting the children ready to leave and go back to their homes. “It is hard not being able to see them everyday or be in touch with them anymore”.
Advice that she would give to future foster parents is to consistently pray and seek God through the whole process. She also said to be open to the advice of others and to seek wise counsel through the process. One of her favorite bible verses that has helped her through this process is Phillipians 4:13 which says “I can do all things through him who gives me strength.”
